Manatee Childrens Services (MCS) is a nonprofit child advocacy agency in Manatee County, Florida, working to prevent and respond to child abuse. Founded in 1977 as the county's first emergency shelter for abused children in foster care, it now provides a continuum of services: emergency shelter, long-term group homes, mental health and trauma-focused treatment, forensic interviews and medical evaluations through its Child Protection Team, parenting education, kinship and relative caregiver support, teen prevention and child safety programmes. MCS also operates as the county's Child Advocacy Center, bringing investigators, prosecutors and clinicians together so children are interviewed fewer times. The agency serves children and families across prevention, intervention, treatment and residential programmes, reporting more than 16,000 people served in its most recent annual report.
