About

Med Sea Alliance is a non-profit network working on nature & wildlife conservation, environment & climate.

The Med Sea Alliance is a coalition of 21 non-governmental organisations working across the Mediterranean basin for marine conservation. Its members aim to end illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing and destructive practices such as bottom trawling, improve fisheries transparency and compliance with rules set by the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM), and establish effectively managed Marine Protected Areas. Its stated goals include protecting 10% of the Mediterranean as strictly protected and 30% as protected by 2030. The alliance combines science, policy advocacy, campaigns and community engagement, and works with the European Commission, GFCM and governments both inside and outside the EU.
