Misjon Europa
Tofte, Norway
About
Founded in 2000, Misjon Europa is a non-profit association based in Tofte, Norway working on humanitarian aid & disaster relief, poverty & hunger, religion & faith.
Misjon Europa is an interdenominational Norwegian association founded in 2000 by Ole Bjørn Saltnes and Edny Saltnes, and registered in the Brønnøysund Register in 2002. It provides spiritual and material aid to people in need in Europe, with work in Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine and Poland. Its activities include regular truck convoys of food, clothing and other goods to Latvia and Estonia (over 50 trips to date), support for church meals and Bible distribution in Daugavpils, Latvia, and a second-hand clothing shop at Tofte in Hurum, Norway. Clothing that is not sold in the shop is sorted and sent to people in need in Estonia and Ukraine. The shop and warehouse are run by volunteers, and the organisation also runs annual bus trips to its projects in Eastern Europe. Donations are received through bank accounts for work in the Baltics and Ukraine. The work began in 2000 after a pastor in Daugavpils invited a Norwegian visitor to his congregation, and funds were first raised among friends and acquaintances.
