Münchner Kinder- und Jugendfarm e.V.
München, Germany
About
Founded in 1989, Münchner Kinder- und Jugendfarm e.V. is a non-profit association based in München, Germany working on children & youth, education, environment & climate.
The Münchner Kinder- und Jugendfarm e.V. is a registered non-profit association in Munich that has run open children's and youth farms since 1989. It operates two farm-style facilities of open child and youth work, in Neuaubing and Ramersdorf. Children and young people aged 6 to 17 can visit free of charge without registration during opening hours. The farms offer natural play areas, a variety of animals such as goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, bees, horses, ponies and pigs, and workshops in woodworking, pottery, blacksmithing and bicycle repair. Regular members of the farms, known as Stammkinder, help with animal care and gardening. The association also runs education projects for school classes on sustainability and education for sustainable development. Its work is partly funded by the City of Munich, and it relies on donations and membership fees for costs such as veterinary care, repairs, building materials and play equipment. The association was founded after a visit to a youth farm in Stuttgart, and its founder Ludwig Hoffmann secured a site in Neuaubing from the city. A second farm in Ramersdorf followed in 2004.
