Nadační fond IT People runs the Počítače dětem (Computers for Children) project in the Czech Republic. The project collects donated and surplus computers from companies and individuals, refurbishes them at its installation centre in Prague, and lends or gives them to families in financial need so that children can study online. Equipment is also provided to primary and secondary schools, children's homes, hospitals, shelters and low-threshold facilities, and some devices are sent to schools supporting Ukrainian children. Families are verified through schools, and volunteers help with collection, delivery and installation. The project was launched in spring 2020 during the pandemic, when online schooling highlighted the lack of home devices. It also works with e-waste recycling through the collective system ASEKOL.
