National Biomedical Foundation

National Biomedical Foundation is a foundation based in Szeged, Hungary working on education, science & research, health.

The National Biomedical Foundation, based in Szeged, Hungary, runs the National Academy of Scientist Education (Nemzeti Tudósképző Akadémia), a talent development programme for talented high school and university students in biomedical research and natural sciences. The programme runs secondary school training centres across the country and university research workshops in four cities with life sciences universities (Budapest, Pécs, Szeged and Debrecen). It also operates a student residence, the Bert Sakmann Dormitory in Szeged, opened in 2022. The foundation's stated aim is to support young researchers and keep them in Hungary. It was originally established in 2013 as the Szeged Scientist Academy programme and expanded nationally from September 2021 with government support.
