About
Founded in 1994, NEEDS is a charity based in Aberdeen, United Kingdom working on mental health, health.
NEEDS is a small registered Scottish charity providing self-help support for people affected by eating disorders. It was formed in 1994 by a group of past sufferers and is run by volunteers with personal experience of eating disorders, either as carers or former sufferers. The charity welcomes all adults affected by an eating disorder, including sufferers, parents, partners, relatives and friends. It runs regular face-to-face support group meetings in small groups, held out of hours with confidentiality maintained, with a focus on mutual support and recovery. Groups operate in Aberdeen, Moray and surrounding areas, with an aim of building a network of support groups across Scotland. The charity works with Beat and Beat Scotland and other Scottish support groups, and also provides information on eating disorders and their symptoms. It relies on personal donations and voluntary fundraising, as it receives no regular funding.
