Nők Világbéke Szövetsége

The Hungarian branch of the Women's Federation for World Peace (Nők Világbéke Szövetsége), an association founded in 1992 that works to empower women with knowledge, skills and support so they can build peace in their homes, communities, nations and the world. Its activities in Hungary include leadership training for women and girls, education on peace and reconciliation, peace-building ceremonies between women from neighbouring countries, cultural and interfaith-style events, and cooperation with UN-linked programmes in Vienna. The wider federation holds general consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council and reports running more than one hundred charity projects in around fifty countries, including education, vocational training, AIDS prevention and health support. Members have also reported a monthly contribution fund since 2002 to aid women and children in North Korea. The organisation is supported by donations and designation of the 1% personal income tax (adó 1%).
