About
North Carolina Railway Museum is a charity based in New Hill, United States working on heritage, education, science & research.
The North Carolina Railway Museum, Inc. is an educational, IRS-registered 501 non-profit organisation incorporated in North Carolina and run entirely by volunteers. It preserves and shares North Carolina railroad history through an open-air museum with historic rolling stock, a G-scale garden railroad, and a gift shop in Bonsal, near New Hill, south-west of Raleigh. Its New Hope Valley Railway, known as the Triangles Train, offers an hour-long excursion of about four miles through piney woods and across a trestle between Bonsal and New Hill. The museum runs seasonal themed rides such as Santa Express, Track or Treat and Thomas in the Garden, and offers Operate-a-Loco sessions and an adopt-a-train scheme. It also runs school group, sensory-friendly and accessibility-focused visits, and is restoring historic equipment including steam locomotive 17. Donations and ticket revenue fund museum operations and preservation projects.
