About
Founded in 2015, One Billion Rising Austria is a non-profit association based in Wien, Austria working on gender equality, human rights.
One Billion Rising Austria (OBRA) is the Austrian branch of the global One Billion Rising campaign to end violence against women and girls. Organised as an association in Vienna, OBRA stages an annual public dance-based rally in Vienna on or around 14 February, usually in front of the Austrian Parliament or at other public squares. It also runs free, accessible dance workshops, public art interventions and workshops, and campaigns for stronger state-funded protection services, a national action plan against gender-based violence, and better funding for counselling centres for women and girls. Its work also addresses how crises such as war, flight, climate change and far-right politics affect women and girls. OBRA works across Austria and is funded by public grants, sponsorship and private donations.
