Österreichische Multiple Sklerose Gesellschaft
Wien, Austria
About
Founded in 1962, Österreichische Multiple Sklerose Gesellschaft is a non-profit network based in Wien, Austria working on health, medical research.
The Österreichische Multiple Sklerose Gesellschaft (ÖMSG) is the politically independent, non-profit umbrella organisation of the Multiple Sclerosis societies in Austria's federal states. Founded in Vienna in 1962, it supports people with MS and their relatives by providing medical information on the disease, current research and social policy topics, and by representing their interests. It organises training for leaders of regional self-help groups, raises public awareness of MS, and promotes research into and treatment of the disease. The federal state societies (Landesgesellschaften) each operate within one Austrian state and pursue the same purpose. The ÖMSG also runs an MS counselling and psychotherapy centre and an MS helpline in Vienna, and maintains the ChatBuddy information assistant. It serves the more than 13,500 people with MS in Austria, along with their families and carers. Donations are tax-deductible in Austria.
