OZ VVS Idrija Cerkno

Founded in 2001, OZ VVS Idrija Cerkno is a non-profit association based in Idrija, Slovenia working on heritage, community development, education.

OZ VVS Idrija Cerkno is the regional association of war veterans of the Slovenian independence war (1990–1991) for the municipalities of Idrija and Cerkno, founded in 2001 and affiliated with the Zveza veteranov vojne za Slovenijo. It is a patriotic, non-political, non-profit, non-governmental association. Its members are participants in the preparations for and the defence of Slovenia in the war. Besides supporting members in claiming veteran rights, the association preserves the historical memory of the independence war in the public domain. It organises commemorations and flag-raising ceremonies with local municipalities, schools and other veteran and patriotic groups, and runs a literary competition for primary school pupils. It also promotes sports and recreation among veterans and publishes historical material, including a book on the 1991 seizure of the JLA weapons depot at Šentviška Gora. Its activities are centred on Idrija and Cerkno, in the Primorska region of Slovenia.
