Phone Credit for Refugees and Displaced People
United Kingdom
About
Founded in 2016, Phone Credit for Refugees and Displaced People is a charity based in United Kingdom working on refugees & migration, humanitarian aid & disaster relief.
Phone Credit for Refugees and Displaced People is a volunteer-led humanitarian organisation based in the United Kingdom. It provides mobile phone top-ups to asylum seekers, refugees and displaced people, prioritising the most vulnerable, including women, children and those sleeping rough or in overcrowded camps. Requests are assessed by an admin team before top-ups are given, and funding comes entirely from donations, including through a weekly fundraising drive and monthly direct debits. The group was founded in February 2016 by James Pearce, after work with refugees at the Calais camp, and it operates as a restricted charitable fund under the auspices of ForRefugees. Requests have come from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
