Refuge de Gerbey

Refuge de Gerbey is a non-profit association based in Chonas-l'Amballan, France working on animal welfare, employment & skills.

Refuge de Gerbey is a non-profit association under the French 1901 law, based in Chonas-l'Amballan in the Isère department near Vienne and Lyon. It takes in abandoned, seized and laboratory dogs and cats without restriction on age, temperament or health, as space allows, and rehomes them under a strict adoption protocol with follow-up. The association also investigates animal mistreatment in a 50 km radius, works to prevent abandonment through awareness and education, and runs CSENA, a declared training centre for animal professions including feline and canine behaviourists, canine educators and shelter animal carers. Its donations and legacies cover most of its operating budget, and donors can receive a tax reduction. Visits to the kennels and cattery are by appointment. The association is run by volunteers and has around 600 members.
