RISE
Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico
About
Founded in 2001, RISE is a charity based in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico working on children & youth, education.
RISE is a privately funded children's home in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. It provides a shelter for children who have been living on the streets or in unsafe environments, most of them referred by DIF, the local family services agency. The home offers daily care, physical education, music, art, English lessons for younger children, weekly catechism for older children, and emergency medical care. RISE works to reunite children with family members where possible and, for those not reunited by age 13, to move them to an adolescent home. The shelter is funded by donations, including cash, goods, stock gifts and fundraising events, mostly from the United States and Canada, and relies on volunteers for maintenance, sorting, fundraising, cooking and other tasks. It cares for around 20 children with capacity for up to 50.
