About

Sadako Renewal Project is a community organisation based in Seattle, United States working on peace & conflict, arts & culture, heritage.

The Sadako Renewal Project is a community nonprofit based in Seattle, Washington, that is raising funds to replace the bronze statue of Sadako Sasaki stolen from Seattle Peace Park in July 2024. The project commissioned a new, theft-resistant public artwork by artist Saya Moriyasu, selected through a jury process, and retains the original bronze feet by Daryl Smith within the new sculpture. It also plans an interpretive panel on Sadako's story, the park's history and the legacy of Floyd Schmoe, and it recognises Duwamish land and history at the site. The project is registered as a non-profit with the State of Washington and is fiscally sponsored by the Beacon Business Alliance, which receives tax-deductible contributions on its behalf.
