About
Founded in 1992, Safe Kids Grand Forks is a community organisation based in United States working on children & youth, health.
Safe Kids Grand Forks is a region-wide child injury prevention coalition serving northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota. It is a program of Altru Health System and brings together health care providers, government and community agencies, schools, churches, businesses and volunteers. Its mission is to prevent unintentional injuries and deaths among children and youth aged 19 and under. The coalition offers free car seat check-ups, Smart Sitter and water safety classes, and safety education on farm safety and other topics. It works using the five Es of injury prevention: education, encouragement, engineering, enforcement and evaluation. The coalition holds monthly member meetings, accepts new members at no fee, and offers volunteer and service-learning opportunities, including for University of North Dakota students. It is one of more than 400 Safe Kids coalitions in the United States and part of a network across more than 30 countries.
