Schülerpaten Berlin e. V. is a non-profit association based in Berlin that has connected volunteer educational godparents (Pat*innen) with school students of mainly Arabic migration background since 2009. Each tandem meets once a week, usually at the student's home, for tutoring, and the volunteers also act as a point of contact for everyday questions and support with career orientation. The association trains its volunteers through seminars and themed evenings, organises shared leisure activities such as an annual summer festival, and provides financial support for outings between godparents and students. Its stated aim is to improve educational opportunities for children and young people with a migration background and to strengthen social cohesion in Berlin.
