Seniorpartner in School

Founded in 2001, Seniorpartner in School is a non-profit association based in Berlin, Germany working on children & youth, education, peace & conflict.

Seniorpartner in School (SiS) is a volunteer association of active older people trained to work in schools. Its volunteer mediators help pupils resolve conflicts non-violently through mediation, and offer supportive individual conversations to young people facing difficult life situations. Teams of two are assigned to a school and work there on a fixed weekday. The organisation promotes non-violent coexistence and violence prevention in schools and after-school care centres, and it trains new mediators through its regional associations. Founded in Berlin in 2001, the federal association (Bundesverband) is based in Berlin and coordinates 14 state associations across Germany. Mediation work is delivered in more than 400 schools. Activities are funded through donations, sponsors and public grants, and the organisation is recognised as charitable and tax-exempt.
