Shade Children Foundation is a Kenyan non-governmental organisation based in Thika that runs Shade House, a children's home giving vulnerable and orphaned children a safe place to live, along with food, education, medical care and a loving family environment. Children are mostly referred by the Children's Officer after abuse or neglect. The Dutch Stichting Shade Children Foundation Nederland fundraises for the home and advises the Kenyan board. Support is offered through child sponsorship, general monthly giving, donations, and volunteering, with volunteers contributing teaching, sport, meals and homework help. The organisation also supports some children and elderly people in local slum communities with education, healthcare and basic needs, and runs the Shade Football Club for young players who cannot afford membership fees.
