United States
About
Founded in 2009, SMILE Mass is a charity based in United States working on disability, children & youth, community development.
SMILE Mass is a non-profit organisation based in Massachusetts that helps families raising children and adults with disabilities access education, recreation, vacation and respite experiences without barriers. It runs Club SMILE Mass, an adaptive recreation program with swim, gym, social and music therapy sessions, and operates an equipment loaner program that lends adaptive equipment to families. It also donates floating beach wheelchairs to public beaches across New England and provides accessible vacation rentals on Cape Cod. The organisation is developing a capital campaign to build a permanent, accessible recreation campus and clubhouse in MetroWest, Massachusetts. It was founded in 2009, when a mother sought to make the world more accessible for her son, and began with an accessible swing in a Sudbury playground. The organisation is governed by a volunteer board and is supported by donations, corporate sponsorships, grants and legacy gifts.
