The Société de soins palliatifs à domicile du Grand Montréal, known as SSPAD, is a non-profit health organisation providing free palliative care and support services at home in the Greater Montreal region. It serves people with cancer or other advanced, life-limiting illnesses who wish to spend their last stage of life at home, along with their families and caregivers. Services include nursing care, personal hygiene and comfort care, psychological and spiritual support, respite for caregivers, and bereavement follow-up. Volunteers support families with transport, accompaniment and administrative tasks. The organisation also takes part in palliative care research and teaching and runs Maison Mobile, a project for people experiencing homelessness. Its fundraising arm, the Fondation de la Société de soins palliatifs à domicile, was founded in 1980 in honour of Dr. Maurice-Bertrand to finance home palliative care.
