The Sociedad de Obstetricia y Ginecología de Venezuela (SOGV) is a non-profit civil association of obstetricians and gynaecologists based in Caracas, Venezuela. Founded in 1940 at the Maternidad Concepción Palacios, it describes itself as a scientific, academic, cultural and social society focused on women's health across all stages of life. Its work includes continuing medical education, congresses and training courses, support for specialist training, publication of the Revista de Obstetricia y Ginecología de Venezuela, and technical advice to private and public health bodies on clinical guidelines adapted to the national context. It also runs a simulation room for clinical and surgical skills and awards a national prize in obstetrics and gynaecology. The SOGV states that it aims to improve the quality of care for women in Venezuela and is a founding member of several international federations in obstetrics, gynaecology, fertility and menopause.
