Soroptimist International Maribor is a women's humanitarian club and branch of the international Soroptimist federation, founded in Maribor in 1993. The club raises funds through charity concerts, Christmas bazaars and stalls, and uses the proceeds to support local institutions such as youth homes, a rehabilitation centre for people with acquired brain injuries, a women's and children's shelter, a maternity home, a hospice and flood-affected families. It also awards scholarships to young musicians, students and medical specialists, and runs lectures and cultural and networking events for members and partner clubs in Austria, Croatia, Italy and other Slovenian clubs. Membership is by club invitation only. The club is politically and religiously neutral and its members work in several professions.
