Oslo, Norway
About
Founded in 2008, Sparebankstiftelsen Bien is a grant-making foundation based in Oslo, Norway working on community development, children & youth, arts & culture +2 more.
Sparebankstiftelsen Bien is a foundation established on 1 January 2008 when Sparebanken Bien was converted into a share savings bank. It is the largest owner of Bien Sparebank ASA and works to continue savings bank traditions through long-term, stable ownership of the bank and by distributing grants from part of the bank's profits to public-benefit purposes. Its grants go mainly to voluntary organisations, clubs, school music corps, sports teams, youth and children's activities, and local community projects in the Oslo area, with occasional support in neighbouring municipalities such as Bærum, Asker, Nittedal, Lillestrøm, Lørenskog, Enebakk, Nordre Follo and Nesodden. Applications are assessed by the board, with application deadlines on 1 May and 1 September each year. The foundation is governed by a general assembly of eight customer-elected members and two deputies, which elects the board and nomination committee.
