About

Founded in 2001, Spendobel is a non-profit organisation based in Dortmund, Germany working on community development, children & youth, housing & homelessness +4 more.

Spendobel, Das Dortmunder Spendenparlament, is a citizens' giving initiative founded in 2001 as an initiative of the Evangelischer Kirchenkreis Dortmund. Each year a parliament of around 100 to 130 members selects ten social projects with a Dortmund connection and time limit. Spendobel then promotes these projects for one year and collects donations for them, passing 100 percent of donations on to the projects, as the church district covers administrative costs. Supported projects span child and youth work, homelessness services, disability sport, trauma support and family and intercultural programmes. Spendobel also receives unrestricted donations, which are distributed at year end to projects that have not reached their fundraising targets. Since its founding it has reportedly supported more than 200 projects with over 1.5 million euros. Spendobel operates in Dortmund and the surrounding region.
