Společnost horské medicíny

Společnost horské medicíny is a non-profit association based in Jilemnice, Czech Republic working on health, education, science & research.

The Czech Society for Mountain Medicine (Společnost horské medicíny, z.s.) is a Czech non-profit association that promotes knowledge of mountain medicine, safety and injury prevention in mountain environments. It organises the annual Pelikán Seminar on mountain medicine, which is held in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and publishes proceedings, bulletins, information for members, and an archive of presentations and research on topics such as frostbite, avalanche injuries, high-altitude illness, overuse injuries and hypothermia. It also runs courses in mountain medicine and collaborates with the Medical Commission of the Czech Mountaineering Association and the Medical Commission of the Slovak Mountaineering Association, as well as the UIAA Medical Commission. Membership is open to physicians and other interested people, with fees reduced for members. The society is registered in the Czech Republic and its contact address is in Jilemnice.
