About
Founded in 2022, Stage Fright Festival is a non-profit organisation based in Portland, United States working on arts & culture, lgbtq+.
Stage Fright Festival is a non-profit queer horror theatre festival based in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 2022 by Jeff Desautels and Amica Hunter, it is an annual festival producing original theatre by professional and emerging independent artists, with a focus on trans and queer creators and audiences. The festival presents full-length productions, double features of short works, script readings, interactive installations, workshops and variety performances, including local and touring artists. Artists are paid fees and keep ticket sales from their own performances, and the festival relies on donations and grant funding. Year-round, it runs a development lab called the Scrypt Lab, an online archive of past shows, and volunteer-run off-season activities. The organisation aims to build community through genre theatre and plans to operate its own venue in future.
