Stiftelsen Blå Kors Fredrikstad is a diakonal foundation with a history of over 100 years and one of the larger Blue Cross organisations in Norway. It runs ten services in the areas of children, youth and family, volunteering and inclusion, housing and life mastery, work and everyday skills, and upper secondary schools, the latter through wholly owned subsidiaries. Services include family support for small children in vulnerable situations, housing and low-threshold offers for people with substance use, mental health and criminal justice challenges, support for people affected by violence and incest, work training, and a day place for people with addiction. The foundation works mainly in Fredrikstad, Sarpsborg and surrounding areas in Østfold, and relies heavily on about 170 volunteers it calls tidgivere. Its funding comes from municipalities, government bodies, foundations and local donors.
