About
Founded in 2006, ŠTO TE NEMA is a non-governmental organisation based in New York, United States working on human rights, peace & conflict, arts & culture.
ŠTO TE NEMA is a transnational nonprofit and participatory monument commemorating the Srebrenica genocide. Founded by Bosnian-American artist Aida Šehović in 2006 in Sarajevo, it builds a monument from porcelain fildžani cups, one for each victim, filled with Bosnian coffee. Volunteers, families and diaspora communities assemble the monument in public squares in cities worldwide, usually on 11 July. The organisation also runs exhibitions, film, workshops and public dialogue projects, working with cultural institutions, civil society groups and diaspora communities to promote remembrance, accountability and collective healing from genocide. Its work is based in New York and Sarajevo, with a subsidiary in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
