Students Helping Honduras (SHH), also known as One Thousand Schools (OTS), is a US-based non-profit founded in 2006 by Shin Fujiyama and his sister Cosmo while they were students. The organisation runs an 8-day volunteer service trip programme in which international volunteers help build schools alongside community members, and it operates the Villa Soleada community in the El Progreso area, which includes a bilingual school, a childrens home, a guest house and a scholarship programme. Its programmes are directed by Honduran leaders, and most of its staff are Honduran nationals. Funding comes from individual donations, personal fundraising pages, and income-generating ventures.
