Tafel Butzbach

Tafel Butzbach e.V. is a non-profit association in Butzbach, Hesse, Germany, that collects surplus food from supermarkets, bakeries and food producers and distributes it to people in need. Recipients are people with official proof of need, including long-term unemployed people, single parents, families, pensioners with low incomes, asylum seekers and other low-income households, who pay a small contribution for a weekly food basket. The association was founded as a support association in 1995 and the Tafel itself began food collection and distribution in 2005. Its work relies on around 75 volunteers who run collection drives, sorting, distribution days and a delivery fleet of refrigerated vehicles. The association also runs a clothing room, the Kleiderkammer Butzbach, and is funded by donations, sponsors, membership fees and public-benefit grants. It moved into new premises at Elsa-Brandström-Straße 1 in 2025. Its work is local, serving Butzbach and the surrounding region.
