About

Founded in 1984, Theater RAMPE is a non-profit association based in Stuttgart, Germany working on arts & culture, community development.

Theater RAMPE is a non-profit association (gemeinnütziger Verein) that runs a production house for theatre, performance, dance and music in the Stuttgart-Süd district of Stuttgart, Germany. It is housed in a former tram depot of the Stuttgarter Zahnradbahn and also operates the bar RAKETE. Rather than maintaining a fixed ensemble, the house works with independent artists, groups and collectives from Stuttgart and abroad, presenting co-productions, guest performances and residencies. It runs participatory neighbourhood projects and public programmes, including the free WWW für alle space and a solidarity ticket system that lets audiences pay what they can. The organisation states commitments to diversity, inclusion, accessibility, sustainability and fair pay, and it is institutionally funded by the City of Stuttgart and the State of Baden-Württemberg. Founded in 1984 as a free theatre of the city, the house has been led since 2023/2024 by a duo of artistic and managing directors.
