About

W3_ Werkstatt für internationale Kultur und Politik e.V. is a cultural and political education and information centre in Hamburg-Altona, founded in 1979. It works to strengthen transcultural coexistence in the city and to encourage critical debate on development and peace policy topics. Its work covers global justice, human rights, gender justice and feminisms, anti-racism, anti-antisemitism, decolonial history and sustainable, solidary ways of living. It offers workshops, lectures, panel discussions, film screenings, readings, concerts, walking tours and conferences, and runs projects for children, families and adults. It also advises cultural institutions on discrimination-critical organisational development and provides affordable space for civil society initiatives in its building. The association is recognised as charitable (gemeinnützig) and runs a podcast, and it volunteers and hosts a voluntary cultural year (FSJ Kultur). Its work is guided by a stated value framework that emphasises solidarity over charity, power-critical reflection and intersectional approaches.
