Zeleni Subotice is a citizens' association founded in 2006 to protect the environment and promote green policy, ecological sustainability and sustainable economy in Subotica and its surroundings. Its central focus is the care of Lake Palić. The association removes illegal waste dumps, including from the Kelebija and Subotica forests and the Hajdukovo local community, runs awareness-raising lectures, workshops and nature camps in schools, and carries out humanitarian collections for socially vulnerable groups. It also supports parents of children with special needs and works on inclusion through the Festival ljubavi. Internationally, it participates in the Erasmus+ STEMAction for the Future project. The association is not organised as a political party, though it works closely with local branches of political parties. Decisions are made by a City Board made up of directly elected members and representatives of local community committees. The association reports having slightly more than 400 members.
