About
Arenha is a renewable energy company specializing in Hydrogen, Energy Storage.
Arenha (Advanced materials and Reactors for ENergy storage tHrough Ammonia) is a multinational consortium of 11 organizations from 7 countries focused on establishing a complete ammonia supply chain from European resources. The project integrates energy and transport leaders (ENGIE, PSA ID/Stellantis), innovative SMEs (ELCOGEN, Proton Ventures, H2Site), five top European research centers, and organizations like CNH2. Arenha demonstrates ammonia's viability as an efficient, cost-effective, CO2-free energy storage vector when production and decomposition are integrated with renewable energy generation. Ammonia offers high hydrogen gravimetric density (17.8% by weight) and volumetric density (108 kg H2/m3), making it 1.5 times more efficient than liquified hydrogen for energy storage. The consortium leverages 75+ years of industrial experience with ammonia infrastructure, regulation, and safety.
