Founded in 2020, Assonbioenergie is a co-op headquartered in Asson, France specializing in Biogas.

Assonbioenergie is a cooperative biogas project established to produce renewable energy through agricultural methanization. The initiative brings together 11 farmer operators managing 7 livestock farms in Asson, the Lur Berri agricultural cooperative, and over 40 regional partners including neighboring farmers, local schools, educational institutions, and municipal authorities. The project converts agricultural waste, livestock effluent, and crop residues into biogas through anaerobic digestion. The biogas produced is utilized to generate heat, electricity, and fuel for vehicles. The initiative addresses energy independence, supports livestock farming in the region, reduces greenhouse gas emissions from manure storage and spreading, minimizes odor nuisances, and provides supplementary income for farmers while reducing reliance on mineral fertilizers.
