About
Founded in 2020, Astrabat is a government specializing in Energy Storage.
Astrabat is a 3.5-year European research and innovation project launched in January 2020 under the EU Horizon 2020 programme (grant agreement No 875029). Led by CIC energiGUNE, the consortium comprises 15 partners from 7 European countries, including 3 universities, 7 research and technology organizations, 4 SMEs, and 5 enterprises. The project develops all-solid-state lithium-ion battery technology to support electric vehicle market growth. Key objectives include creating a novel solid-electrolyte material and manufacturing process suitable for high-energy electrode materials and mass production, achieving energy density of 1200Wh/L with 20-minute charging time, and demonstrating TRL6 prototypes in pilot-line environments. The project addresses critical battery performance issues including energy density, cycle life, safety, and the reduction of cobalt and other critical materials. Innovation areas include silicon-based anodes, nickel-manganese-cobalt oxide cathodes, solid electrolyte interfaces, and water-based cell assembly processes. The project emphasizes sustainability through eco-design, recycling strategies, and a fully covered EU value chain approach.
