About
Founded in 2022, BatWoMan is a ngo specializing in Energy Storage.
BatWoMan is a €4.8 million Horizon Europe research project running from 2022 to 2025, coordinated by a consortium of 8 partner institutions across Europe. The project aims to pave the way for sustainable and cost-efficient lithium-ion battery cell production in the European Union. Key objectives include: removal of volatile organic compounds in electrode processing through water-based alternatives and high dry mass content slurries; innovative dry room requirement reduction with improved electrolyte filling; low-cost and energy-efficient cell conditioning (wetting, formation, ageing); and development of an AI-based platform and digital battery dataspace with battery passport support. The project targets a 63.5% reduction in cell production costs and 52.6% reduction in energy consumption, supporting carbon-neutral battery manufacturing and European leadership in sustainable battery production.
