BeonNat is a 15-partner consortium (8 RTO, 5 SME, 2 LE, 1 association) funded by the Bio Based Industries Joint Undertaking under Horizon 2020. The project focuses on innovative value chains using tree and shrub species from marginal European lands to produce biodegradable, bio-based products and bioactive compounds. Key outputs include essential oils extraction, poly-lactic acid synthesis, lactic acid production, and activated carbon, with applications across cosmetics, packaging, and industrial sectors. The initiative aims to mitigate climate change impacts and create economic opportunities in the European bio-based economy.
