Bio-changing-energy, operating as T. van Til Eelde Beheer B.V., develops and operates mobile renewable energy systems for biomass processing. The company has engineered a solar-powered mobile natural hay compression installation that converts hay mowing waste—a byproduct from nature conservation and agriculture—into standardized briquettes. The installation includes an array of 126 solar panels per deployment unit and mobile lead-acid battery storage to manage intermittent solar generation. The briquetting process produces fuel with calorific value equivalent to diesel (2.5kg hay briquettes ≈ 1 liter diesel) and is clean enough to serve as feedstock for bioplastics and biogas production. The technology was developed in collaboration with TilCoTec Mechanical Engineering and funded by provincial grants (Groningen, Friesland, Drenthe) and European Regional Development Fund support. The prototype is operational; commercialization is planned.
