Biochar Europe is an industry consortium dedicated to advancing the biochar sector as a key climate mitigation technology. The organization represents and coordinates activities across the European biochar value chain, connecting biochar producers, technology providers, research institutions, policymakers, and users. The network works to promote biochar as an important climate measure and circular bioeconomy solution, with focus areas including: development of scientifically-backed standards and regulations for industrial biochar applications; bridging knowledge gaps in the sector; fostering collaboration and synergies among stakeholders; enhancing awareness and understanding of biochar technologies and applications; and contributing to climate change mitigation and de-fossilization of industries. Biochar Europe organizes the annual Biochar Summit conference (Biochar Summit 2026 scheduled for June 10-11 in Vienna, Austria) and produces research reports and market analysis for the European biochar industry.
