Founded in 1970, Bioenergia ry is a ngo headquartered in Helsinki, Finland with approximately 50-200 employees specializing in Biomass, Biogas, Energy Storage.

Bioenergia ry is a membership organization representing the entire Finnish bioenergy sector, from forest owners to energy companies and technology providers. The organization advocates for biomass-based renewable energy and emerging technologies such as biochar production, bio-CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage), and carbon dioxide removal. Key focus areas include promoting sustainable bioenergy production, advancing biochar as a carbon sequestration solution, maintaining biodiversity in biomass harvesting, and influencing energy policy at national and EU levels. Bioenergia publishes a quarterly magazine and maintains an online news portal. It established the Finnish Biochar Network in 2022 after integrating the Finnish Biochar Association into its operations.
