Biokraft-austria is a working group established in late 2015 within the Fachverband der Chemischen Industrie Österreichs (Austrian Chemical Industry Association). It represents the collective interests of Austrian industrial biodiesel producers before public authorities, national and international organizations, and the public. The group coordinates biodiesel production using sustainable feedstocks including used cooking oil (47%), animal fats, and rapeseed oil (24.2%), while consciously avoiding palm oil. Austrian biodiesel producers maintain a combined production capacity of approximately 390,000 tonnes annually, with member companies sourcing raw materials primarily from Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary. The organization promotes environmental and economic benefits of biofuels as part of climate protection and emissions reduction in the transport sector.
