Biomethane Industrial Partnership is a government specializing in Biogas, Hydrogen.
The Biomethane Industrial Partnership (BIP) is a formal initiative launched by the European Commission on 28 September 2022 during the European Sustainable Energy Week. It brings together EU policy makers, Member State representatives, companies active in the biomethane supply chain, and other stakeholders to support achievement of the REPowerEU target of 35 billion cubic metres annual production and use of sustainable biomethane by 2030, with preconditions for further expansion towards 2050. The partnership is structured around six Task Forces focused on specific topics: Member State policies and targets (Task Force 1), project development and financing (Task Force 2), feedstock sustainability (Task Force 3), production costs and technology (Task Force 4), innovative technologies and digestate valorisation (Task Force 5), and Ukraine integration (Task Force 6). The BIP governance includes a Governing Board (up to 7 members), a secretariat managing day-to-day operations, and a Support Group of up to 20 companies plus the European Biogas Association. Membership is free and open to all aligned stakeholders. The partnership has published numerous reports and deliverables on biomethane incentives, feedstock potentials, production technologies, and policy recommendations.
