About
Founded in 2023, Biopyrania Project is a ngo specializing in Hydrogen.
Biopyrania is a Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking initiative bringing together 13 academic, research, and industrial partners from 9 European countries. The project develops innovative bio-based polymers derived from second-generation woody biomass to replace fossil-fuel materials in high-performance applications. Key focus areas include: (1) Biobased PBI anion exchange membranes for electrolyzers and hydrogen fuel cells; (2) Biobased polyamides for electric vehicle battery enclosures, inverter housings, and busbars. The project emphasizes sustainability, safety, and circular economy principles throughout the material lifecycle. Expected outcomes include 20% reduction in time-to-market for biobased products and development of metabolically engineered cell factories for chemical production.
