Blunova Spa is part of the Carlo Maresca Group and specializes in the construction and management of renewable energy plants including solar (photovoltaic), wind (onshore and offshore), energy storage systems (BESS), and green hydrogen production. Since 2010, the company has invested over €600 million in renewable energy infrastructure, establishing itself as a market leader in Italy. Blunova handles the entire renewable energy value chain: site selection, project development, permitting, engineering, construction, grid connection, and operations & maintenance. The company operates approximately 390 MW of installed capacity as of December 2023, with a diverse portfolio comprising 30 photovoltaic plants and 15 wind installations across Italy and internationally. Notable projects include the CACIP facility in Macchiareddu (82 MW, the largest photovoltaic plant in Italy built on a remediated industrial site), wind installations of 70 MW capacity in partnership with EDP Renewable, and advanced BESS systems including 5.9 MW operational facility in Melilli and planned 80 MW and 160 MWh installations. The company is pioneering offshore wind development with four projects totaling approximately 3.5 GW in development phase, floating photovoltaic technology, green hydrogen production through electrolysis (1 MW pilot in Abruzzo), and port electrification solutions. Blunova has achieved €464,400 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided through production of 900,000 MWh. The company maintains ambitious targets including 520 MW authorized capacity by mid-2024, a 2 GW development pipeline, and authorization/construction of additional 500 MW through 2026.
