Broukster Energie Coöperatie was founded in January 2018 by five residents of Noordbroek, Groningen, with the mission to make sustainable energy accessible within their local community. The cooperative operates small EAZ wind turbines (12-meter rotor, 21-meter hub height) combined with solar panels on agricultural land. Members purchase energy shares representing 250 kWh annually and receive energy tax reductions under the PostcodeRoos scheme, guaranteed for 15 years. Generated electricity is sold to Energie VanOns, a regional cooperative energy company. The cooperative handles administration, financial management, operations, maintenance, insurance, and taxes. Projects are supported by SDE subsidies for renewable energy generation.
