Cité des énergies

Founded in 2015, Cité des énergies is a research institute headquartered in Saint-Paul-lez-Durance, France specializing in Biomass, Biogas, Solar.

Cité des énergies is an international R&D centre for low-carbon energy born from the historical expertise of CEA Cadarache and its commitment to supporting businesses. It promotes research excellence and technology transfer in solar energy, biotechnologies for energy and environment, and renewable energy solutions. The centre operates around five strategic axes including biogas, biocarburants, microalgae production, photosynthetic systems, and smart energy networks. It brings together the Institut de Biosciences et Biotechnologies d'Aix-Marseille (BIAM), CEA-LITEN, and CEA Tech, with over 30 active partnership contracts representing more than 71 million euros in investments. The project aims to develop sustainable solutions through biotechnology and green chemistry while supporting the emergence of new industrial sectors and fostering collaboration between fundamental research, applied research, and industry.
