Co2mmunity is a transnational network of organizations operating across eight countries in the Baltic Sea Region dedicated to advancing community energy (CE) as a core pillar of the Green Deal. The project's mission is to facilitate community energy project development as part of the transition to renewable energy sources. Core activities include creating local partnerships for energy project development, providing knowledge resources, developing tools, and organizing stakeholder meetings. The project established the RENCOP (Renewable Energy Cooperation Partnership) organizational model to guide and encourage higher production of renewable energies through energy-cooperative models. Major outputs include six piloted renewable community energy projects, eight country-specific handbooks on CE development, policy recommendations for national-level policy makers in the Baltic Sea Region, a CE knowledge base, and a roadmap illustrating participatory mobilization processes. The extension project, Energize Co2mmunity, continues implementation of CE pilots and broader stakeholder engagement across pilot regions.
